Northland Outdoors Forecast: Cooler and drier air returns

Friday will be our transition day from the heat that has been in place to the arrival of cooler and drier air. I'm seeing a breeze pick up and a chance of some showers and storms in parts of the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest. Highs ahead of the front will still peak in the 80s while most of North Dakota and northern Minnesota may stay in the 70s Friday afternoon. The moisture in the region which has led to many sticky days during this work week will slowly be pushing out of the area. This weekend will feature much drier and more comfortable air for us. If you want to see the wind shifts and precipitation outlook over the weekend check out the video above.

The pick day of the weekend will be Saturday. Winds will cooperate for most of the region. These lighter winds will coincide with comfortable temperatures and dew points. Highs for nearly the entire region will stay in the 70s. Expect a mix of sun and clouds Saturday afternoon.

Winds will pick up to finish out this weekend. The breeze will mainly impact the Dakotas. Winds will start out of the southwest and then pick up out of the northwest. Late in the day the front that will switch our winds from southwest to northwest will pop up a few showers and thunderstorms.
